Temecula FC owner Brandon Jantz admits they go to Oxnard with an injury-hit squad and a handful of players not able to travel. Jantz has revealed none of his players injured on Saturday have a chance of recovering for the mid week fixture.
Manager Austin Levins will be without 10 first-team players, while 4 our out due to injury the other 6 have other obligations. Eddie Guerra, Heron Martinez, Angel Mora and Juan Verde are the injured players and Keegan Smith, Justin Picou, Oliver Nelson, Steven Lamberta, Mason Grimes and Byron Rivera have other commitments.
With so many players missing, Levins had hoped to be able to call up Mario Cos — but Cos pulled up injured in a reserve match on Sunday. And will not be risked.
When owner Brandon Jantz was asked if Temecula will sign new players in time for Wednesday’s NPSL match, the Temecula native said: “Yes, of course. It doesn’t seem fair to the lads or coaching staff after such a great start not to give them the support. I don’t think we can risk losing our first match in 6 months due to no giving our staff a chance.
‘We are currently looking to add 4-5 players and can confirm Rafael Carneiro, Bryan Orta and Nathan DaRosa all proven players have been added and we are in the process of signing Benjamin Ortega as well. These 4-5 players will also add to the depth of the squad for coming play dates as well as they are all top players wanting to earn their place in the starting XI” ~ Brandon Jantz
