TEMECULA, California — Quails took a big step toward preserving its playoff push with a 3-1 win over visiting Oxnard on Saturday.

Quails outplaying Oxnard to earn and much needed 3 points from an inform Guerreros’ team who had won two straight in the National Premier Soccer League shows they are capable of “big things”, says Quails manager Austin Levins.

Levins men produced a terrific performance to move 5 points above their opponents in the table to remain fifth, six points behind a playoff spot with unbeaten leaders FC Arizona, OCFC, FC Golden State and ASC San Diego above them.

Temecula deservedly scored three goals in the first 65 minutes through midfielder’s Tarek Nazzal with a brace and Joseph Ciochetto adding the third to make all 3 points safe. Oxnard did pull one goal back with 15 minutes to go and create a few nervous moments before the final whistle but it always seemed that there would only be one result and that is a win for the Quails.

“The mood was set early in the locker room. I am so happy, so pleased,” Levins said. “I don’t need to say too much. All credit to the players because they were fantastic.

“The staff love managing this group of players when they are working hard for each other on the pitch. We need to be humble and recognize that, playing like this, we can do big things.

“Our challenge is to keep going and be consistent in the final 7 matches.”~Levins
